Sophie Esch is an associate professor at Rice University. She writes and conducts research about the intersection of literature, politics, and war in peripheral world literatures of the non-anglophone Global South, especially in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Mozambique, and Angola.
