Sophie Esch is an associate professor at Rice University in Houston. She writes and conducts research about the intersection of literature, politics, war, and the environment in semiperipheral world literatures of the non-anglophone Global South, especially in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Mozambique, and Angola.
